Ever considered moving to the Gem State? There are several areas in Idaho that make living here that much sweeter, but nothing compares to the Treasure Valley. The cities that make up the Treasure Valley all have something unique about them. Depending upon your lifestyle and needs, there is guaranteed to be rentals in whatever city you choose. Below we will break down the different cities within the Treasure Valley, and what makes them attractive for prospective tenants.
Boise
Looking for low-key city life? Boise is all your needs condensed into a small area. The layout of Boise is unique because you can be in the city, on a college campus, or in a historic neighborhood within minutes. Downtown is not very large compared to that of other states. The locals all take part in weekend events and football games.
As quaint as the city is, it has a lot of character that can’t be found in other parts of the Treasure Valley. If you’re looking for rentals in Boise, you will want to travel a little ways out of North-end and Downtown if you want more bang for your buck. Commute wise, if you can land a good deal close to the city, then you are set for life.
Meridian
About 15-20 minutes west is the beautiful city of Meridian. There you will find it to be more suburban and spaced out. Meridian is home to a lot of great shopping areas near The Village. Meridian is also home to Wahooz where you can take your children and mini-golf, play arcade games, or ride the go-karts. Tenants looking for a family suburban lifestyle will find this city to be right up their alley. Big retailers and apartment complexes are quickly filling up the open lots, so you better get in while you can.
One very unique aspect of Meridian is that it puts a lot of effort into parks and recreation for all ages. The parks are huge and well kept. Because a lot of large companies are moving out into Meridian, the commute for many people’s jobs will become shorter. Not everything is in Boise anymore, Meridian is 7th in the nation’s fastest-growing cities.
Eagle
Head a little ways north of Meridian and you end up in Eagle. Eagle, Idaho is where more affluent people reside. The rental properties in Eagle are not as plentiful as other areas. This is ok though because who wouldn’t want to live in Eagle? Their manicured bushes and pristine golf courses make the neighborhoods that much more visually appealing. If you want a big house and a big community, live in Eagle.
Eagle can be more suburban if you want to, or you can head a little ways north and find some very pretty ranch homes with a lot of property and animals. Eagle property management companies probably run out of rentals because it is an ideal place to raise a family. To add to the family-friendly aspect, Eagle built a new movie theater recently called the Luxe Reel Theatre open this November.
Kuna
Open land where you can watch the sunset over farms is what Kuna is like. A lot of the growth from Meridian and Boise has yet to bleed into Kuna. If you prefer the quiet farm life then Kuna is a good option as it is still not too far from the city. It is not as well developed as other cities, but that makes it affordable and tranquil. There are still plots of land for sale, they may cost a pretty penny because they aren’t too far out of Boise, but if you want to build your own house on an acre or two, the option is there.
Kuna is very flat in comparison to Boise and Meridian. There aren’t many buildings around to block the view. Kuna is still very agricultural, but will most likely start becoming more developed in the next 5 years.
Nampa
Renters looking for a city farther west from Meridian will end up in Nampa. Now among the locals, Nampa is not an ideal place to be if you need to commute to the city, but for a lot of out-of-state comers, 25-30 minutes is not that daunting. The cost of living in Nampa is a lot lower too, making it easier to get a decent-sized home for a fraction of the cost.
Nampa is a lot more spread out than the other cities. It has some shopping complexes and some agriculture. When driving by you will notice that Nampa is where there are a lot of factories. It is home to a great public library that locals are very fond of.
